Depart on your overnight flight to Dublin.
Arrival in Dublin and transfer to Waterford (2 hours driving distance from Dublin). There will be a stop for lunch en route at Kilkenny.
This morning enjoy a visit to the Waterford Crystal Factory, to observe the process of crystal-making. Continue with a half day guided tour of Waterford, Ireland's oldest city, founded by the Vikings in 914. See the remains of the city walls, the Watch Tower, Christchurch Cathedral and Holy Trinity Cathedral. In the afternoon, depart for Cork. The city derives its name from the marshy land on the banks of the River Lee - its Irish name "corcaigh" means marsh. The narrow alleys, waterways and architecture give the city a Continental feel.
Visit Blarney Castle, built by Dermot McCarthy in 1446, to "kiss the Blarney Stone". Kissing the stone is a long-standing tradition, intended to confer a magical eloquence. It is set in the wall below the castle battlements and in order to kiss it, the visitor is grasped by the feet and suspended backward under the parapet. Just a short walk from the castle is the famous Blarney Woollen Mills, selling quality garments and souvenirs. Afternoon half day guided tour of Cork including St. Finbarre's Cathedral, where you will have the opportunity to perform your music.
Morning performance at a local school in Cork. Depart for Killarney. Evening performance at St. Mary's Cathedral.
Full day excursion to Killarney National Park. You will also visit Muckross House, an imposing Victorian mansion built in 1843. The landscaped gardens are especially beautiful. See the production of pottery, weaving and crafts done on-site.
Depart for Limerick, Ireland's third largest city. Your half day guided sightseeing tour will show you King John's Castle, St. John's Cathedral, St. Mary's Cathedral, University of Limerick and Bunratty Castle. Afternoon departure for Dublin.
Half day guided tour of Dublin. Sights include statue-lined O'Connell Street, elegant Georgian squares and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Also visit Oscar Wilde's Trinity College-famous for the 1,200-year-old Book of Kells and the magnificent Old Library. The afternoon is for exploring with your teachers.
Return to Canada.
